My how the automobile business has changed since our family had two Volvo dealerships. Sometimes I wish my father were here just so I could say “Look at this! China bought Volvo!!” I would love to see the look on his face and discuss this remarkable news with him.

We were one of the oldest Volvo dealers in the country. My father was part of the early meetings with Volvo when they were looking to establish a presence in the USA. Everyone thought he was crazy. “Who wants an ugly tank for a car?” As all car companies have their ups and downs in this ever changing business climate. Volvo was on top of the world for many years as one of the strongest, best quality and safest cars available. As a Volvo dealer with two Volvo stores for over 40 years we rode the highs and lows of sales and customer perception, which was on the upside for most of those years. The year before we sold our dealership, Volvo was sold to Ford. Slowly, the quality of the cars started to change.

I was brought up on Volvos. I was the kid jumping around in the back seat (no seat belt law then!) The Volvo 240 sedan was the car I learned to drive on and had throughout college and in to the working world. For many years that car was the safest one built throughout the world. It was called the “cult” car because once you bought one, you never bought anything else.

Now the deal is sealed – last week Volvo Cars was bought by Geely of China. Volvo is a standalone and unique car company. They needed the cash infusion and Geely needs a facelift. It will be interesting to see what’s in store for Volvo and what we as consumers can expect to see on the new car lots in the future.

Do you have a story to share about Volvo?

So, you don’t believe you can run your vehicles on water? You probably think all this talk about water fuel technology is a hoax brought about by escalating gas prices. All the ads and articles about HHO, water4gas and run your car on water are pure fantasy, right? Here’s a news flash! Water fuel technology is real! It is actually possible to run your car on water and save a ton of money on gas.

There are many skeptics who still refuse to accept the facts of water fuel technology. They scoff at any prospect of running a car with water. These same negative Neds will soon be filling their gas tanks with $5. $6 or even $10 a gallon gas while the informed believers have increased their gas mileage by as much as 60%! Seems ironic to me that the only ones denying the reality of running a car on water have never bothered to try it. They just read something and their negative nature has to kick in and deny…deny…deny! They should be in politics!

Water fuel technology will allow you to run your vehicles on water. Of course, not 100%. You can’t fill up at the garden hose. At least, not yet! Maybe that is on the horizon. For now, you will have to settle for plans that allow you to build your own conversion kit that will create a gas booster known as HHO. Two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. When introduced into your car’s gasoline supply it breaks down the molecules and mixes with the gas/air mixture. This process causes the gasoline to burn more efficiently and completely An increase in MPG of 30 to 60% is the result of the more efficient burning. It will also mean a cleaner emission which is great for the environment.

Even the IRS must be convinced as they will offer tax incentives of around $2000 for any one trying this green technology. It is completely safe for all cars and trucks, will not void the car warranty and best of all, it is very affordable and easy to do. You will need plans and a few parts to assemble the kit yourself. Plans are available all over the internet. Parts are easily obtainable at any hardware or auto parts store.

High gas prices are crippling our already fragile economy. You can help yourself by learning more about water fuel technology and by learning how to run your vehicles on water. Let the nay sayers spend all their money on gas. I want to save some of my money for groceries!

Don’t be a negative Ned! If gas prices are making it nearly impossible to even commute to work, do something about it! Run your vehicles on water! At least learn a little more about it. Right now, before you do anything else, click over and get the Truth About Water Fuel Technology. It will be the most important thing you do today.

The title of this article might have been a bit confusing “Cheap Used Cars – What to Look For So You Don’t Get Cheap Used Cars?” Are you wondering “huh?” As a car buyer on a budget, you are looking for a cheap or an affordably priced car. Cheap in price is fine, but cheap in quality isn’t. After all, you need a dependable vehicle that can get you to and from work, among other places.

So how you can get a cheap car without actually getting a cheap car?

Test Drive and Inspect – It is always recommended (whether you are buying cheap used cars or brand new cars) that you inspect and test drive the vehicle. This is without a doubt, the best way to ensure you don’t get a bad quality car. Test driving is easy, but what if you don’t know about cars? Should you skip the inspection? No. If you must pay a few dollars to have a mechanic quickly look over the vehicle or take a friend or family member along with you to do the quick look-over inside and out.

Read Reviews – As stated above, you want to be on the lookout for car owners who misrepresent the vehicles they are trying to sell. Some sellers make their vehicles seem a heck of a lot better than they actually are and the new buyer is left holding the bag. On that same note, some issues aren’t even the vehicle owner’s fault. Say you read reviews for a vehicle you like and notice a theme among customers – the car rusts too easily. Rust happening in one or two vehicles (especially in northern states) is normal, but it should not be a complaint made across the board by hundreds or thousands of car owners.

Read Recall Information – This is another issue where the vehicle owner might not actually be misrepresenting the vehicle because they might not actually know the vehicle was the subject of a recall. This is common when cheap used cars constantly change owners. The good news about recalls is if you can prove you are the car owner, they recall should be fixed and likely free of charge. On that same note, recalls do cause you to consider the overall quality of the vehicle and this is a factor you should take into consideration.

Price and Quality - If you didn’t already know the Kelley Blue Book website is a must-visit for buyers looking for cheap used cars. You plug in information about a car and then can get the recommended value for trade-ins and for sale by owner vehicles. As stated above, some sellers will misrepresent their vehicles to make them see like a better deal. That is why it is recommended that you do research on the Kelley Blue Book website ahead of time. Say you setup a meeting to test drive a car, you should have the basics (make, model, year, and mileage). Plug this information in, but two three different searches based on different conditions – excellent, good, and fair. So say that car buyer lied and the car is more fair than good, you know have an estimated value that you can toss back at them for an offer.

If you’ve always wanted to travel like royalty then now is your chance – the Queen’s customised Jaguar Daimler Majestic is now up for sale. News.sky.com has reported that “drivers who fancy travelling in royal style now have a unique chance”.

According to the Daily Mail website, keeping its regal touch by displaying the same number plate as when it was used by the Queen between 2001 and 2004, the Jaguar Daimler is being sold by specialist memorabilia dealer Peter Ratcliffe. Peter has said “this is a one-off chance to buy a car that was made especially for the Queen of England”.

The Jaguar was mainly used by the Queen for driving around the grounds of the Windsor estate, so it’s no surprise that the Daimler has only clocked 14,000 miles. The Geae Times website has reported that “nothing in the car has been changed from when it was owned by Her Majesty”, which is another unique selling point as well as the low mileage – a Jaguar enthusiast would love to get their hands on such a majestic machine.

Painted a shade of British racing green, the Daimler Majestic V8 has undergone numerous modifications to suit the previous owner. If it’s good enough for the queen I’m sure it will be good enough for the lucky person who can afford such historic beauty. As expected, this royal transporter comes with a hefty price tag of £65,000, which makes it a rather expensive second-hand vehicle – but considering the previous owner it’s no surprise really.

The Daimler could be perfect for a lady looking for a classy car with a compartment specifically dedicated to holding a handbag. One of the customised features of the Jaguar was an in-built section of the armrest designed to keep the Queens handbag in place while driving – this may come in handy for women who take about 10 minutes looking for their keys while trying not to drop their handbag.

Another additional characteristic of the Daimler which relates to the previous owner is the telephone link to 10 Downing Street. Unfortunately this is not part of the deal and the line has been deactivated – it could have been a pretty handy addition though if you got caught speeding.

Australians, Queenslanders in particular have felt the squeeze of the dry shammie that they call water restrictions. Auto lovers everywhere either bare the brunt and leave their pride and joy dirty, or break the law just to try and keep it clean. In the bleak conditions comes a shining light.

Waterless car care is soon becoming the fastest selling product amongst the automobile community. Whether you race, drift, drag or lap; your car should reflect your personality, and the ground, and the car beside you.

Whats so special about it?

Waterless car wash has it’s advantages, no scratching, easier to clean dirt, UV protection, the list goes on and on. In fact one claim was that it repairs the top-coat with regular use. UV protection is one we should get back to, it is important. Your cars paint only fades because of the UV rays that hit it and after years it gradually fades like a picture on your wall without blinds. So using waterless will keep your car looking like new, In fact one Lamborghini dealership in Sydney has contracted a waterless car wash detailer to clean the showroom cars once a week, to keep the cars like new.

How do they work?

The formula is a liquid that is applied as a fine mist. The mist settles on the car and is said to seal the dirt on contact, then picked up in the microfiber cloth, so it’s not dragged across your paint. Thus; no scratching. The formula used also separates dirt, making all the dirt very sleek, and easy to clean off. This is what separates water car washes from waterless, the waterless breaks up the dirt and seals it before it is wiped off, whereas a normal car wash just washes the dirt off with water and uses water as the lubricating liquid. This itself could cause scratching because the dirt still is not sealed.

Where do I get it?

We see them popping up everywhere, everyone is joining the waterless sensation. Car-wash cafes, to personalized water-free detail services. But even a cheap car-wash starts from $10 at your local drive through car-wash right up to $40 for a quality detail. So for the average Australian family, $40 extra per fortnight to keep your car clean is not viable.

There are some places where you can buy waterless car wash online that are coming to the rescue, supplying the home user with the product directly. Not only is it easy to clean your car, but it will only cost you around $1.50 a wash.
